Ardee Castle Refurbishment

Ardee Castle was a major project undertaken by John Clarke and Sons (Ardee) Ltd in 1998/99 The castle itself dates back to 1100 and was in need of major refurbishment both internally and externally. Given the structure and age of the building there were many aspects to this refurbishment, which required specialised intervention. The age and structure of the building was always foremost to mind and every effort was made to restore the castle to its former glory whilst incorporating some modern equipment and techniques.

The castle was refurbished with the intention of opening a Museum, Craft Shop, and Coffee Shop while still retaining the Courtroom, which is used on a regular basis.

The Architect on this project was Van Dijk Architects, Dundalk.
